Financial Scandal Hits Sesame Street; Accountants Never Learned Numbers Past Ten
The financial problems which have sent a shiver down the spine of Wall Street in recent weeks have finally struck closer to home, claiming the hit childrenâs television program Sesame Street.
Despite having over thirty years to practice, those in charge of Sesame Streetâs finances have never managed to be able to count past the number ten since the showâs debut in 1969.
Allegations of financial incompetence have swarmed around the show in light of the growing accounting problems now confronting American business. Analysts expect the showâs EBCC (earnings before cookie consumption) to come under especially heavy scrutiny.
Expenses for Big Birdâs early drug rehab after repeatedly claiming to see the "Invisible Snuffy" and WORM-TV, Oscar the Grouchâs perennial loss-making television station, are also among the issues regulators will be examining.
"Elmo would like to comment on charges. But lawyer tells Elmo to use Fifth Amendment right," said Elmo, one of the key figures in the controversy.
