Subtlety And Nuance Dead, Irony Wounded After Latest Sandler Release
Subtlety and Nuance have been killed following the release this week of Adam Sandlerâs most recent film, "Mr. Deeds," in cinemas throughout the country.
Both died upon initial impact with the movie. The incident comes after several serious but not life-threatening encounters with Mr. Sandlerâs earlier works, including "Happy Gilmore" and "The Wedding Singer."
Irony, meanwhile, suffered a series of seemingly relentless blows and is in critical condition. It is, however, expected to make at least a partial recovery in time for Mr. Sandlerâs next box office smash, which is scheduled to open around the Christmas holidays.
"As if anybody really paid any attention Irony anyway. Isnât he like so old and out of fashion now?" asked Sarcasm, Ironyâs distant cousin, when told of the news.
"If there is any good news in all of this, it is that this film hit them like a brick wall. Neither Subtlety or Nuance could have felt a thing," said Dr. Rhea Partee, a specialist at the Andrew Dice Clay Institute of Joke Trauma.
As for Irony, this episode marks another setback in a career that has spanned nearly three millennia and has endured such difficult events as the Peloponnesian War, the collected speeches of Michael Dukakis and Alf.
