Jordan Averages A Dismal Five Commercials Per Game Follow
Doubts surrounding Michael Jordan re-emerged after he closed the season with the worst advertising record of his prestigious career. Following a two-year playing hiatus, Jordan appeared in a mere five commercials a game this year, well below his career average of 38.
At the present rate, Jordan is barely edging out other commercial powerhouses like former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and newcomer Bob Dole, the former Senate majority leader and presidential candidate.
Moreover, Jordan is now well behind Tiger Woods, the leading celebrity endorser, who stands to finish the year with an astonishing 50 commercials per game.
Experts believe that in order to boost his sponsorship scoring, Jordan may have to take shots at pitching products such as gardening tools, car wax and household appliances â items which are well outside his usual advertising range.
