Richard Gephardt Reveals The Secret To His Oratory Success

Having enthralled crowds for nearly all of his public life, Democratic presidential hopeful Richard Gephardt, perhaps the most charismatic statesman on the world stage today, reveals the secret to captivating and mesmerizing one's audience.

If I only had a dollar for every time someone asked me the following question: “ Dick, how do you do it? How do you manage to be the most electrifying speaker in public life time after time, year after year."
Well, its not easy. It takes lots of hard work. Nevertheless, here are couple of tips that are certain to work for you as well.

Dress for success: Of course, speaking is only half the challenge. One also has to dress the part. I always try and find an interesting combination of colors from gray to light gray to dark gray, a mix of light gray and dark gray with just a bit of gray, or lots of gray with less amounts of light gray and dark gray...

Be yourself: I realize that not everyone possesses the sort of dynamic, outgoing personality that I do. Not everyone can speak in rhyming couplets or use the English language with the Shakespearean grace that I can. Nevertheless, it is essential for good speakers to energize their speeches with the same kind of personal magnetism that I do.

Be funny: Audiences always seem to enjoy the little bit of humor I throw in whether I am talking about missiles in Iraq, health care or aid for sub-Saharan Africa. Here, too, the speaker should be advised not to overload the audience with too many jokes and funny stories -- as I have often been accused of doing in the past.
