 Quayle Joke Nearing Extinction
The Dan Quayle joke, named after the former vice president of the United States, is in danger of annihilation, according to humor specialists, with only seven or eight said to still be in existence.
The Quayle joke was once the most flourishing species of humor in America during the 1990s. However, its levels began to see a noticeable drop as soon as George W. Bush became governor of Texas.
From there the Quayle joke population has undergone a steady decline and was nearly wiped out in late 2000 when Mr. Bush was elected president.
"There was a time when everyone had a Quayle joke. Now, most people hardly remember them," said Josh Joshson, Head of Comical Sciences at Yahoo Serious University.
"We must do something in order to keep this joke species from being completely obliterated. Or maybe we donât have to do anything at all. Hey, I donât know. Iâm just a half-baked academic," added Dr. Joshson.
The last known sighting of a Quayle joke was in March at a Democratic fundraiser in New York City.
