Enron Accuses WorldCom Of Plagiarism

Former make-believe energy giant Enron alleged today that former make-believe telecommunications company WorldCom has infringed on its creative property.

Enron claims that WorldCom lifted countless passages from their fictitious quarterly and annual filings, imaginative accounting records and incredibly upbeat press releases.

A recent discovery illustrates their point. Remarks made by ex-Enron CEO Kenneth Lay before the United States Congress are remarkably similar to those made this week by ex-WorldCom CEO Bernie Ebbers:

Lay: "I respectfully ask you not to draw a negative inference because I am asserting my Fifth Amendment Constitutional protection on instruction of counsel."

Ebbers: "I must respectfully decline to answer the questions of this committee on the basis of my Fifth Amendment privilege."

A WorldCom official vehemently denied the accusations, stating it was "purely involuntary that the company borrowed statements from Enron word for word."

"Yeah, that’s the ticket," added the official.
