Recession-Proof Business: Starting a 24-Hour Bud Spencer Channel in Europe

There are three things that I as a North American have failed to grow accustomed to in Europe: everything shutting down on Sundays, everything shutting down in August, and Bud Spencer.

Bud Spencer, born Carlo Pedersoli, is an Italian actor famous for appearing in spaghetti westerns and crime comedies — often with his sidekick Terence Hill (born Mario Girotti).

Europeans love Bud Spencer. Well, perhaps not all Europeans love Bud Spencer, but enough do to guarantee that his films are replayed over and over and over again on European television screens.

There is something in the makeup of a sizeable segment of the European population which never tires of Bud Spencer films – entertaining and amusing though they may be – as, say, one might tire of chocolate after eating two pounds at one sitting. There is no law of diminishing returns for Bud Spencer films, as an economist might say.

So, prospective entrepreneurs, if there is one morsel of investment advice I can impart it would be to buy up a television station in any European country between Germany and Russia and then keep the Bud Spencer film reels rolling non-stop.
