OMG! Hungarian Government Vows to Change ‘Unworthy’ Websites

The new government of Hungary, led by Prime Minister Viktor Orban who was sworn in on Saturday, has promised to clean up not only the country’s flagging economy but the state’s websites as well.

Today the message which greets visitors on the websites of several Hungarian ministries and the prime minister’s office begins with the well-known acronym “OMG”.

“The new government wants to put the country’s websites in order as well,” the message reads. “We consider the present situation to be unworthy of Hungary: the websites of the ministries lack any uniform structure or design, most of them are technically out of the date and incoherent.”

The message goes on to say that there are 443 domains registered to the Hungarian government, but only 125 have content on them.

“We are going to check out every single website,” it states. “We will decide if they need to be kept, and if they should be operated in their present form or need restructuring. Obviously it is an enormous task. But we have started.”
