Israeli and Palestinian Rugby Players Team Up in Hungary
Amateur rugby players from Israel and the Palestinian Territories got together this week in Budapest Hungary. The seven-day rugby camp was set in motion by a group called the Anthropolis Association.
“The goal of this event is to break down stereotypes and play rugby,” said Marton Bisztrai, one of the organizers of the event. “There are no diplomats here. Because they over-politicize the situation and poison the atmosphere.”Players from Italy and Hungary also participated.
“It doesn’t matter if they are Palestinian or any other team. We want to be the best,” said one Israel player.
“I never thought I would play with Israelis,“ said a Palestinian player. “But it’s happened.”
