Hungary’s Top Female Golfer Slain
The husband of Hungary’s top female golfer, Krisztina Fodor, 36, was arrested by Hungarian police on Thursday for murdering his wife in their Budapest apartment.Gustav Gy, 50, confessed that he had beaten and stabbed his wife in their Budapest apartment after he was taken to a hospital following a suicide attempt.
Fodor, a two-time Hungarian golf champion, had her first golf lesson in September 2003 at the age of 29. Four years later, she competed as an amateur with the Ladies European Tour at the 2007 UNIQA Ladies Golf Open in Wiener Neustadt, Austria.
Besides competing, Fodor was a prominent proponent of the sport in Hungary. She taught golf clinics for children and adults, and, along with her husband, set up websites and television programs dedicated to the sport.
