LATE LATE
Craig Ferguson and the Fight for Citizenship
Craig Ferguson has launched a campaign to become an honorary citizen of
towns and cities across America. Ferguson devised the campaign after he
received a letter from Mayor Vernon McDaniel of Ozark, AR in which
Ferguson was granted âhonorary citizenshipâ for Ozark as a
reward for Craigâs positive remarks about the city and its catfish on
The Late Late Show. The Mayor of Ozark had become aware of Fergusonâs fondness
for his city after reading about the mentions in the local newspaper, The Times Record.
âIâve had my citizenship application to be a citizen of the United States
in for a long time, and it hasnât come through yet. But, I am now a citizen of
Ozark,â said Ferguson on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
âIâll become a citizen one town at a time across the United States⦠Sooner
or later I will become, just by default, an American citizen.â
The
Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson
website is posting materials for fans to help support the
campaign through a letter writing initiative to their local town and city council.
Ferguson, born in Scotland, is currently studying to become a
U.S. citizen and his official application for citizenship has been submitted
