XMAS PICK Oliver Stone's World Trade Center
More than five years after terrorist attacks obliterated the
World Trade Center it is still difficult to think of the building in the past tense.
Everyone in the country had a connection to it before 9/11.
Now Oliver Stone has brought the building, at no point distant from the public conscious, back into the forefront with the superlative tribute to the heroic strength of the American spirit in the face of unspeakable evil.
World Trade Center provides us with another look at the true story of two Port Authority police officers, Will Jimeno (Michael Pena) and John McLoughlin (Nicolas Cage), who hurried to the scene of the devastation but soon became trapped in it themselves.
Here the film transcends the disastrous events of that horrible day and becomes a story of human survival.
Maria Bello and Maggie Gyllenhaal help complete this splendid cast.
