DVD PICK Backdraft 15th Anniversay Edition
Backdraft, Ron Howard's
film that battles a mammoth conflagration is now out on DVD in time to
celebrate its 15th anniversary. "Undoubtedly the biggest, fanciest
firefighting movie ever made," was how Janet Maslin described it in
The New York Times, and that description still holds true today.
The film showcases an all-star troupe of talent with William Baldwin
and Kurt Russell starring as two feuding firefighter brothers who must
set aside their personal differences in order to survive the burning,
churning infernos set by a maniacal arsonist. Robert DeNiro, Donald
Sutherland, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Rebecca DeMornay round off the super
solid supporting cast.
The sound and the video have been revamped for this two-disc set
helping to make this fiery action flick all the more exciting.
