I Am a Sex Addict
We get to know an awful lot about director Caveh Zehedi in his comedy
I Am a Sex Addict, more than we learn about most directors
As the title suggests, the film is an open account of Zehedi's obsession
with sex, and how this two-decade obsession has turned his life and his
relationships topsy-turvy.
Unlike drug addiction, sex addiction is still a subject that will more
cause giggles than sympathy, as Zehedi is fully aware as he places himself
under the cinematic microscope.
We catch up with Zehedi, now 43, as he prepares for his third marriage and has
decided to do something about his affliction. His first two ended in failure,
in large part because his former wives could not tolerate his visits to prostitutes
and his reports about those visits.
The film derives a great deal of its humor through the intense scrutiny Zehedi
places himself under before the viewer and the discomfort society shows in addressing
sexual desire.
