Tell Me Why I Don't Like Ebay

It has emerged that Sir Bob Geldof, the former leader of the Boomtown Rats and organizer of the upcoming Live 8 concerts, does not like eBay. Our team of reporters with far too much time on their hands translated some of his scathing remarks directed at the online auction service.

Bob Geldof: What eBay are doing is profiteering on the backs of the impoverished.

Translation: As opposed to most pop stars who profiteer on the backs of just about everyone.

Bob Geldof: I am appealing to their sense of decency to stop this disgusting greed.

Translation: I should also be appealing to certain unnamed pop stars who get paid millions to sell soft drinks to young kids.

Bob Geldof: The people who are selling these tickets on websites are miserable wretches who are capitalizing on people's misery.

Translation: Wait a minute, didn't Pink Floyd make millions off of selling misery?

Bob Geldof: It is filthy money made on the back of the poorest people on the planet.

Translation: Phil Collins flew economy class on the Concorde during the first Live Aid concert.
