TRANSLATIONS Burt Reynolds Slaps CBS Producer
Actor Burt Reynolds slapped a CBS producer outside
a screening of the Manhattan premiere of The Longest
Yard, a remake of the original in which he
also starred. What follows is a translation of the event from our team of reporters
with far too much time on their hands.
Burt Reynolds: Have you seen the original?
Translation: Because if you had, then you would see that my meager talents are woefully
inadequate when compared to the great thespian abilities of Adam Sandler.
Burt Reynolds: You don't know anything about the movie? Well then whatâ¦(are) you asking me for?
Translation: Don't ask me about the original. I made it during my truly wild days and passed out during the first 15 minutes.
Burt Reynolds: The guy has never seen the⦠he asked me to tell him about the picture,
he's standing here in a shirt that needs ironing, the man works for CBS, I'm embarrassed.
Translation: And bring on Dan Rather, Morley Safer and Andy Rooney while you're at it ... I'll take you all on, you punks.
Burt Reynold's publicist Jeff Lane: He was kidding. There was no anger and no problems
between him and the young guy. They had a playful, kidding interview.
Translation: And here's a kick in the groin and a poke in the eye just to show there are no hard feelings.
